AI & Automation Engineer (f/m/x)
Remote: Germany only
We’re looking for someone who can own that automation layer end-to-end: design new workflows, integrate AI services, and make sure our systems stay reliable as we scale across German, English, and Dutch markets. You’ll report directly to the Head of Infrastructure and have real decision-making authority over how we automate.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Workflow engineering: Design, build, and maintain production workflows in n8n that process booking data, orchestrate API integrations, and feed analytics dashboards.
- AI integration: Build and tune LLM-powered pipelines for call transcript analysis, GDPR-compliant data redaction, and booking-conversion insights.
- System integration: Connect SaaS tools, internal databases, and third-party APIs into reliable, observable automations with proper error handling and retry logic.
- Process discovery: Work with Sales, Operations, and Customer Service to find manual bottlenecks and turn them into automated workflows.
- Monitoring & reliability: Keep automations healthy—set up alerts, handle edge cases, and document everything so the team can maintain it without you.
Your profile
Must-haves
- Several years of experience in automation, process engineering, or technical operations.
- Strong hands-on experience with n8n or a comparable workflow platform (Make, Zapier Pro, Prefect, Airflow). If you haven’t used n8n specifically, that’s fine—you’ll pick it up fast.
- Practical experience with LLM APIs and prompt engineering (OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar cloud AI services).
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, JSON, and integration patterns.
- Scripting ability in JavaScript or Python—enough to extend workflows, parse data, and debug issues (not full-stack dev).
- Experience working with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred) and writing SQL queries.
- Comfortable working independently, owning projects from idea to production, and communicating clearly in English.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Familiarity with NLP tools for entity recognition or data redaction.
- Background in call-centre analytics, CRM systems, or booking/travel platforms.
- German or Dutch language skills (helpful for working with multilingual data).
- Docker and basic DevOps awareness.
Our offer
- A remote role - no commuting.
- Flexible working hours — part-time (30 h/week) is genuinely an option, not just a footnote.
- An international and diverse company.
- Team and company events on a regular basis.
- Small team, big ownership — you’ll work directly with the Head of Infrastructure and have a short path from idea to production.
- To accompany Dreamlines on its way to becoming the global market leader.
- A competitive salary and travel perks and discounts.
What this role is (and isn’t)
This is a hands-on automation engineering role. You’ll spend most of your time inside n8n, API docs, and occasionally a code editor. It’s not a software engineering position (no app development, no CI/CD pipelines to maintain), and it’s not an internship or junior role.
